well, after my rant the other day about the iPhone not having iChat on it… i am not sure where i got the idea that it actually would have iChat! it sounds like a total no-brainer, so i think i just assumed it would be included. i went back and watched parts of the original Jobs keynote demonstration of the phone… and either i missed it, or i couldn’t find anywhere where either an iChat icon appeared on the phone, or where iChat was even mentioned. what might have been misleading is that when Jobs is doing SMS text messaging, the icon itself has a little speech bubble in the middle which is very similar to the current iChatAV icon. the flow of the convos in texting are formatted to look almost exactly like iChat in the way it threads them in speech bubbles. it’s possible to switch back and forth between different texting convos that are happening at the same time (which is sorta like tabbed chatting but not exactly). however, when the message is sent, there is that familiar iChat “whoop” sound! in looking back with a hazy memory, i could see how because of these things, i might have thought iChat was demoed. anyways, i still hope they wise up and do include iChat when the iPhone finally drops.
